Christmas is Over

Christmas is over...There is such a huge build up and then it is over. I waited till the last minute to begin shopping. Not because I was too lazy or a procrastinator, but because I was relying on my December 23rd pay check to pay for the presents.

Anyways...This year was a good year. Even though Derek had to work and Clinton is is Kuwait, we still had a good Christmas. We celebrated Christmas Eve at my aunt's house like usual. Of course there was drama. My cousin Aaron's wife I guess is not a very nice person. She is very protective of her 1 year old son and doesn't even let him stay at my Aunt's house. So that was drama. My brother called on Christmas Eve and we all got to talk to him. That was very nice. You'll never believe this...he told me that he got to ride a camel. Isn't that crazy?

After my Aunt's I went over to Derek's to do presents with him. He got me a treadmill which I have been wanting forever. I know I know I sounds kind of mean, but he knew how bad I wanted one. Since the wedding is only 5 months away I really need to workout!!! He also got be a pair og Uggs. I love them. They are the tall camel colored ones. And an Ugg purse. What a sweetie, huh?? He always over does it, but I'm not complaining!!! I ended up staying the night at his house and then going to his parents at 6:30 in the morning before Derek had to be at work.

After that I went home and got ready for church. I had already opened my gifts the night before from my parents. Let's say it was a James Dean Christmas. I got tons of James Dean things. My parents are very sweet too. We get to spend the day with Tiffanie and Sammy which was pretty fun.

All is all it was a good Holiday.

Christmas with the Castellanos

So last weekend we had Christmas with Derek's mom's side of the family. We left Saturday morning. I had a lot of fun. I am starting to feel very comfortable around his family, which is great. So for our Christmas dinner we had tamalas, tostados, burritos, tacos, and rice. Oh if you couldn't tell his mom's side of the family has some Mexican backround. I always think that it is weird to eat that food for Christmas. I am used to the traditional turkey and mashed potatoes dinner, but I am starting to appreciate their way of doing things. There was major drama like there always seems to be at any gathering that has over 20 people there. Someone got forgotten about and didn't get a present and threw a huge fit. This made Derek's sister and grandma very upset. Anyways things calmed down and all in all it was a great weekend.
Derek's brother is in town with his wife from California. It's always nice to see them. Also I got to meet someone from Derek's family that I had never met before. His Uncle Moe. Uncle Moe is a character. He used to live in Chicago. He is 'self-employed' and very mob looking. Hmm...wonder what he actually does. Anyways he was a very nice guy.

I love Derek's family and I guess it's a good thing since we are getting married in 5 months.
